Last night before I laid my eyes to rest, I had an idea. They say children are the most honest people on the planet. So I was thinking who better to help me critique my photos and my blogs than my daughter, my nieces and nephews. For some odd reasons, kids see things in a whole different light than adults do. Maybe we adults lost that skill when we grew up and started to take life way too seriously. Besides what’s the worst that can happen…I get to bond with my brats and to me that sounds like a win-win situation! Whoohoo…I’m doing it. Wish me luck…teehee

Public Pillow Fight 2009

This past Saturday, in the belly of Wall St., the folks at newmindspace.com pulled off one of the most fun events of the year once again. A public pillow fight with lots of participants and way too many spectators and police. It made me think of the parable for how people generally live their lives. There are those who get involved by taking action and others who just stand around and watch events taking place. The pillow fight usually would go on until the time on the permit expires. Unfortunately, New York’s finest still seem to have a proverbial stick up their whaazoo because they dispersed the crowd an hour ahead of schedule. Needless to say, we all had a grand ole’ time beating the heck out of one another in good clean fun. My trophy, besides the oodles of photos and videos I took, was to walk home covered in feathers from being in the middle of all the ruckus. Can’t wait for the next event!

The daily AHA-moment…

So I had a photo shoot last night and it went quite well. Better than I expected even. Funny thing that I realized is before every shoot I drive myself crazy with information overload. Between yanking out school notes from years ago to perusing the aisles at the camera store, it seems like I can never be too prepared. The good news is, I have way more skills and talent with my camera than I give myself credit for. Go figure! Bright side of my neurosis is that I’m open to always learning something new.

These Economic Times….

If I had a dollar for each time someone said that phrase to me, I’d be seriously out of debt. With the impending recession, I’ve been forced to reorganize my business goals as well as focus on my current finances. It’s funny how asking a simple question can blow out into a huge discussion. I’m not complaining at all. The topic of debt and residual income has been long overdue.

Currently, I’m taking inventory of how many of my friends can give me a straight answer to various topics. This week’s question: If you have a credit card account in collections, is it better to take the settlement they offer you or set up a payment plan to repay the amount in full? in my opinion, i was always taught to pay back that which you owe. No shortcuts allowed. Granted in “these economic times” money is tight and jobs are not guaranteed, is that a good reason to settle an account? If you need to apply for a loan within the next seven years, are the creditors or bankers going to look at how bad the economy was doing at the time of your settlement or will they judge you as an individual?

Which looks better on your credit report if you’re trying to rebuild your credit and boost your FICO score? Inquiring minds and pocketbooks would like to know.

Hello again fans,

You love me! YOU REALLY LOVE ME!!! hahaha…The nice weather has infiltrated my brain so forgive the outburst. I’ve been up since 7:30am getting a good start on this lovely 3 day weekend. My photog friend, Rob has invited me to do an engagement shoot today so I’ll be having fun with that this afternoon. Pics and the new website are both coming soon as promised. I hate to have you all waiting but trust me it’s worth it.

Labor Day is coming in a day or two. If you’re going to enjoy the festivities of the West Indian day parade please be safe, have fun and look for either Rob on the Hot 97 truck or me in the crowd with my camera and my bodyguards.

Hey there my fans,

This is my first post. At this time, allow me to introduce myself. Jolene, 31, raised in Brooklyn and having an affair with a camera since I was about 13. There I am in a nutshell. You will also soon find out that my humor precedes me.

To date I’ve assisted with 6 weddings. YOWSER! There’s a reason why people plan this event a year or more in advance. If you were a real girley girl, you should’ve been planning this gig since the days of under-roos. After each wedding, the goal was to post a few pics and a synopsis of the day. Oopsie! I’m a tad bit late.

No time like the present so here I go…well as soon as I get my photos resized in Photoshop. AHA!
